Copyright
Copyright is a form of intellectual property, granting the creator of an original piece of work exclusive rights to it. This means that copyrighted material cannot be used, adapted or in any way altered without consent of the rights holder. The aim of copyright is to promote creativity by giving authors control over their works and the ability to profit from them.
How to protect digital graphics
Protecting graphics is a relatively simple proceedure that involves registering with the UK Copyright Service then uploading the selected files and paying a charge of £39 for 5 or £64 for 10 years of copyright per item.Ethical Issues
The creation and manipulation of images carries several ethical issues, including their potential for false advertising or over idealised images that aren't an accurate depiction of what they claim to represent.Use of Copyrighted Source Materials
The images I created were originals, taken from a digital camera. I did however source three images to crop from the internet, in doing so I had to ensure that they were copyright free. The added image of a Westboro Baptist churchgoer may cause offence to certain groups due to the radical nature of the church, this is why it has been placed in the shadows behind the focal point of the image to convey a metaphor implying such things should be shunned to the background.
